A message from Jennifer Fischer, Great River parent and current Board Chair:
On behalf of the Board of Directors and Sam O’Brien, Head of School, I am pleased to announce an adjustment in the Head of School structure for Great River School.
Effective January 1, 2016, Katie Ibes will transition job title and role to Director of Pedagogy reporting directly to Sam O'Brien. Sam will continue to serve Great River as our Head of School. (A role he has held since spring of 2014.)
Katie has been working with the Great River faculty and community for many months, and will continue to serve as a leader. This change in role for Katie allows her to focus her expertise and talents in supporting our excellent faculty, creating a long-term vision for Montessori at Great River School, and to further grow Great River School teaching and learning practices. This adjustment in title and focus allows for clarity that will best benefit our students and community moving forward.
The Board continues to be impressed with both Sam and Katie’s leadership of Great River School. Their vision, thoughtfulness, energy and dedication is essential in preparing our students for their unique roles as responsible and engaged citizens of the world.
