ParentTeen Transitions Meets Thursday 11/30 6:30pm

ParenTeen Transitions, a GRS parent-led group that focuses on learning together and being mutual supports between parent and teens, has been meeting for the past three years.  We have had speakers on various topics (ex. Teens & Screens, Family Tree Clinic Sex Ed), have screened a film for parent-teen discussion and have had a monthly book club around a teen development theme.

This year we would like to focus on two things:

1) Creating a parent group to talk about teens struggling with mental health diagnoses as a way to share stories and resources plus having a safe place to connect

2) Starting a Movie Club where teens can come together to watch great coming of age movies (ex. Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Dead Poets Society) and talk about them.

This year ParenTeen Transitions will expand our invite to include parents from other St. Paul charter schools (Avalon, SPCPA…).

Our inaugural meeting is November 30, 2017 at 6:30 at the Urban Growler in Saint Paul. If you are interested in participating in ParentTeen Transitions, we’d love to have you at our first meeting to connect with a group of overburdened, but encouraged parents, help us think about how often and what days/times to meet, and develop a list of topics to cover.
