Did you know that your participation in the upcoming GRS Board election is another way to support the success of GRS for years to come?
The GRS Board is made up of a group of dedicated teachers, parents, and community volunteers. People just like you with a commitment to ensuring the long term stability of Great River School.
Three Ways YOU can support the success of Great River School:
1) VOTE:
All parents/guardians and employees of the school are eligible to vote in the GRS Board election. To faciltiate convenient voting, board elections for terms beginning on July 1, 2016will be held the week of spring conferences, March 17-18. Please watch for candidate bio's to be posted in advance and for specific voting instrucitons in the weeks leading up to the election.
2) JOIN A COMMITTEE:
Much of the work of the GRS Board takes place at the committee level. There a currently four Board Committees, each with working groups dedicated to moving forward specific strategic initiatives. If you are interested in joining a committee, please contact the committee or Jennifer Fisher <jfischer@greatriverschool.org>
Resource Committee: resources@greatriverschool.org
-focuses on school finance, development, and fiscal strategy
Student Experience Committee: SEC@greatriverschool.org
-focuses on student holistic outcomes and development, and our educational practices

-focuses on supporting an effective board and governance of the school
3) RUN FOR ELECTION:
The upcoming election is comprised of the following seats:
To select from new and incumbent candidates to serve a regular three-year term:
Licensed Teaching Faculty - 2 Seats
Parent/Guardian - 1 Seat
Community Member - 1 Seat
Candidates interested in running for a three-year term should contact Jennifer Fisher <jfischer@greatriverschool.org> with any questions or for application materials. Candidate Applications will be posted to the school website and through the announcements blog no later than March 4th, 2016.
Previous Board Committee experience is encouraged, but not required for an elected seat on the School Board.
