(Our apologies for the intermittency: our support van charges our phones only when the motor is running, so we don't have the usual full batteries every morning. We're prioritizing precious electricity for real-time communication and documentation had unfortunately taken a hit.)
Day Four:
We began with a guided tour of the court of Detroit. Visiting everything from the revitalized downtown river walk to the Heidelberg Project just minutes to the east students brought inquisitive minds, polite interaction and patience for each other to each experience. Many were especially appreciative of our guide, Calvin, who took time out of his busy afternoon to eat lunch with us after the tour was over.
We then pushed north along I-75 all the way to Mackinaw City, where we met the North Bus after their day on Mackinac Island. Reunions between students and faculty were sweet and our guides were impressed with the generosity of spirit evidenced by the efforts of returning eighth graders to be welcoming to this year's new students.
Day Five
