Great River Rocks the Lego Tournament
The hard work and extra hours of programming have paid off! First Lego League teams from Great River won multiple awards and much praise for their performances at the regional tournament December 14 at Capitol Hill Magnet School.
The school sent four teams to the tournament where tech-savvy participants are judged on project presentations, teamwork, core values, and on how well they build and program robots. Apparently Great River excels in these areas as judges awarded our Team Athena the “Spirit Award” and the Brickheads the “Research Project Award.” The Brickheads were also one of four teams chosen from a field of 32 metro teams to move onto the state tournament in February. This is the second time in three years that a Great River team has been chosen for this honor. Well done, all who have added to our robotics program!
All four teams should be proud of their work as a great deal of collaboration between teams led to this success. Parents also chipped in with rides and volunteered time and resources. This was truly a group effort involving many, many people. A special shout-out needs to be given to the teams and their coaches:
